As I'm using x86_64 I had to install from AUR (the PKGBUILD needs slight modification). But it works an absolute treat. Thanks!

It has come to my attention that the current system of "calling 911" is poorly thought out. Many people, like me, who start fires or get into other mischief would be unlikely to call 911 for the simple fact that they do not want to be disciplined, which is sure to happen. I realize that I could have used a pay phone, etc. but when in this situation it seemed the best thing to do to avoid trouble was nothing at all.

Really? You couldn't even have called 911? That's pretty bad man.

Try running the aireplay -9 test on ath0 and/or wifi0 to cover all your bases. If neither of those work make sure you are getting ath1 in monitor mode by checking it out with ifconfig and iwconfig. The 1000HA definitely supports injection. If neither of those work leave another content with more detailed feedback and we will work this out.

There could be a problem with your config. This is definitely the hardest part of upgrading a kernel, and usually most of the errors stem from not including or including the wrong modules, etc. in your config. Make sure you take a look at a guide on configuring kernels and look up specific things you may need to enable for your own specific hardware. If that doesn't work post more specifics on your problem, like the exact error messages, and I will try to work it out from there.
